Things Could Be Worse by Benjamin Dewey
You may have fallen off a moving boxcar and your spouse ran away with your dog (to be together), but look, the calamitous nature of life dictates that things could always be worse. And they could! After all, you’re not trapped in the 20,000,000 year old lake under Antarctic ice. Nor are you a Bearded Lady enslaved by carnies. If by some chance you have befallen any of these unfortunate fates, then I apologize: things probably are pretty bad for you. Follow some similar near-catastrophic potentialities at Benjamin’s tumblr, or buy prints at etsy so you can plaster on your wall the reminder that hey, you’re not a zombie… yet.
I hope to turn them into a comic of my own. Just like between friends though.
Their names are Gordon, Richard and Stu. I imagine them being twenty something flatemates, perhaps in college or something. They’d revolve around some sort of social hub, like a cafe, or a comic book store. Maybe one could work there. Anything is possible. Thats what I love about this. I can make it exactly how I want it to be. But input from outside is appreciated. Including constructive criticism.
Got some vague ideas for biographies:
Gordon: The ring-leader of the trio. Looked up to for advice, and normally comes up with something sarcastic and unhelpful. Might give him a catchphrase, but I can’t think of anything original.
Richard: A scene kid, or scene wannabe. He has the hair for it. Quite an introvert, but still looks up to Gordon, but reluctant to show he looks up to anyone.
Stu: ‘noun, see Karl Pilkinton’. ‘Nuff said methinks.
